NATIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT announces an opening for the following position:

GROUNDSKEEPER

8 hours per day, 12 months per year

Tuesday – Saturday

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

The job of Groundskeeper is done for the purpose/s of maintaining attractive grounds area/s; ensuring the availability of required equipment; protection against erosion; maintaining grounds for assemblies and/or recreational activities; ensuring assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner and directing assigned workers as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of maintenance and operation of manual and automatic sprinkler systems; methods, materials and tools used in planting, cultivating and caring for lawns, shrubs, trees, plants and flowers; methods and materials used in landscaping, fence construction and paving; common plant diseases and insect pests including approved methods of control; and sweeping, raking and other cleaning procedures.

Skills to operate gardening tools and operate motorized equipment.

Ability to oversee skilled and unskilled workers; conform to all safety code requirements, perform heavy manual labor, follow written and oral instructions; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Licenses, Certifications, bonding, and/or testing required: Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a comprehensive written and technical examination process to determine skill competencies.

SALARY/BENEFITS:

Appropriate placement on the Classified Salary Schedule, Range 21, $18.09 to $22.07 per hour. Employees receive health, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage and Employee/District contribution to the Public Employees Retirement System. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement containing an agency shop provision.
